–––– Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions.
How long is a DOT medical certificate valid?
A medical certificate can be valid for up to 24 months. The examiner may issue one for a shorter period when a condition, such as high blood pressure, needs monitoring.
Is the urinalysis a drug test?
No. The urinalysis in a DOT physical screens for health indicators such as protein, blood, and sugar. DOT drug testing is a separate process arranged through your employer.
